Venkatesh Bhat

Venkatesh Bhat is an Indian chef and hotelier, hailing from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He is the CEO of The Accord Metropolitan Hotel, Chennai, as of 2021.

Early Life and Childhood: Venkatesh Bhat

Venkatesh Bhat was born on 15th September 1980 to a Hindu family in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Not a lot is known about his family life when he was a kid. There is not much information found about his father however, his mother’s name was Radha Bhatt who unfortunately passed away from a train accident in 2001. We don’t know if Venkatesh has any siblings or not.

Venkatesh Bhat was born and brought up in Chennai, Tamil Nadu and he also pursued his education from there. He was a student at Sir M Venkatasubba Rao Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chennai. It has been reported that as a student, he was not very meritorious and in fact, also failed some classes because of his lack of merit in certain subjects. It is a normal thing as many students in these times also suffer from lack of interest in studying certain subjects and their four do not always score very good marks in them. But that does not mean that that child has no intellect or talent because every person is talented in some aspect or another. Many notable scientists artists and other famous people were not always the most intelligent as students but their occupations and intellect gained them lots of success. Such was the case with Venkatesh Bhat as well.

After he finished his schooling, he went on to study culinary and catering at Asan Memorial College of Arts and Sciences. He obtained a degree from Cornell,l University, and then went on to study at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore from where he majored in General Management.

Career: Venkatesh Bhat

Venkatesh Bhat started his career in the year 1994 when he joined Hotel Chola Sheraton, which is now known as My Fortune, in Chennai. He worked there as a chef for 2 years before resigning and joining Taj Coromandel as a management trainee in kitchen management and Hotel operations. Afterwards, he was promoted to the position of sous chef in the year 1998. He worked as the executive sous chef for The Leela Palace in Bangalore in 2001 after which, in 2004, he was promoted to the position of corporate chef.

Venkatesh Bhat worked at The Leela Palace tilil the year 2006 but ended up resigning from his job. He launched Billionsmiles Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. In 2007, which aimed to encompass popular restaurants like Bon South, South Indies, Up South in Bangalore. He joined The Accord Metropolitan Hotel in the year 2012, and as of 2021, he is appointed as the CEO of the hotel. He is also the CEO of Highland Hotel in Ooty and The Accord, Puducherry. Though he is the CEO, Venkatesh Bhat also works as a chef at Royal Indiana Restaurant in Chennai.

Television

Venkatesh Bhat has been a part of several television cooking shows. He appeared in the Tamil cooking show “Samayal Samayal with Venkatesh Bhat in the year 2014, and there he cooked over one hundred recipes for home cooks and beginners to try. He was also part of the population cooking shows, Cook with Komali, which was shown in 2019, and then Cook with Kirikku in 2021. He has a YouTube channel that he started in 2020, and currently, it has above 20 lakh subscribers.
